Description

This Japanese hansatsu note was issued by the local landlord as a substitute for coins during the Tokugawa era. This note was exchanged for one momme, which is equivalent to 3.75 g, of silver. One side of the note has a sea theme, with the fisherman god Ebisu on top and seashells at the bottom. The other side of the note features the clan seal and the territory where the note is circulated.
